God Let Your Will Be Done
Song “Deliver Me ” by Donald Lawrence
Matthew 26:39 King James Version (KJV)
39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
John 5:30 King James Version (KJV)
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
John 6:38 King James Version (KJV)
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
From the previous week I talked about Matthew and how it was about Jesus being considered God and God is with us. Also how Jesus is born and all the promises that he will bring , he is teacher on how to love your neighbor, and there are expectations that people see from Jesus such as him healing the sick.
In the book of John it talks about John’s eye witnessing testimonies and how he believes that Jesus is alive, real, and can change your life forever. The first half which includes chapter 5 and 6 talks about the divine word of God which became human in Jesus. People also talk about in this book the different names/beliefs they call Jesus. In this book John ends up supporting his reasonings on why he feels Jesus is who he is with a few stories. Some of those stories are the wedding where Jesus turned the water into wine. This was a symbolic message of the generosity of Christ. Another story was the temple having to be destroyed and how Christ would create a new one in 3 days. This was very symbolic just as Christ being risen on the 3rd day. In this book Jesus also healed a paralyzed man on the sabbath; specifically in Chapter 5, and in Chapter 6 he feed thousands but the list of stories continue throughout this book.
The title “ Let Your Will be Done” relates to these passages because we witness so many stories in these two books on how God allowed miracles to happen. When we do our own will we become :
-Hurt : from relationships (any relationship that wasn’t ordained by God)
-Disappointed : one example for me is not getting a job that you forcefully tried to get yourself (the one you praised more than God)
-Expectations: we expect too much from people and this will hurt you every time
These three things can often lead to depression , confusion, envy of others, and neglect of your own will. Allow God to do his thing and you will eventually see the puzzle pieces come together in the end. Trust the process.
