Disappointments
-Song “Open My Heart” by Yolanda Adams
1 Peter 5:6-8 King James Version (KJV)
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Psalm 119:116 King James Version (KJV)
116 Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
I’ve talked about 1 Peter in previous messages but for the title “Disappointments”, it represents that life hardships can deepen our faith in God. Also in the book of Psalms this topic reminds me of the five main statements which are God’s faithfulness, hope, God’s promises,God responding to all of the crisis, and God hearing the crisis of the people.
We all go through a phase of disappointments from worldly things but we have to blame ourselves because we expect too much from others and we try to use our own will verses the one God already established for us. Many disappointments come from:
Being impatient : you think it should happen right now but it’s not happening
Hurt : someone you thought so highly of disappoints you
Feeling not good enough : having so many goals that you want to accomplish and they not come to pass
Questioning yourself : you see others living the dream on social media
Questioning God : when God doesn’t do what we want and when we want it
There are so many disappointments that we face but we must remember to trust in the Lord with our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding. Once you do this you’ll realize there are dimensions of things we don’t have access to that God is doing for our own good. This just only means that the blessing is delayed but it was never denied. Keep up the faith during this time and believe God for all of his promises. TRUST IN HIM.
