Forgive
-Song “Give Myself Away ” by William McDowell
3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him. Luke 17:3-4 KJV
In the book of Luke it talks about the earliest account of Jesus’s life. Luke wants to show that Jesus is the fulfillment of the story of Israel. It also shows Jesus doing most of his works with low social status people and outsiders. Luke’s powerful point is for people to follow Jesus. We must submit to him and if we do so we will get to know the real him.
I love how this subject, “Forgive” aligns with Easter being this upcoming Sunday. We know the significance of this day being when Jesus rose from the dead. This teaches us to forgive. A lot of people go through things when someone hurts or betrays them and we all heard that saying fool me once shame on you fool me twice ……. You know the rest.
We have to realize that although we are forgiving these people what are we doing to allow ourselves to be betrayed from them multiple times. Why aren’t we acknowledging the red flags ? Take that same situation but put you and Christ in the midst. Why are you keep doing the same sins over and over again? Is it because you know God will forgive you? We don’t want to be betrayed multiple times just like God doesn’t want to keep getting us out of the same situation every time. You have to become what you want to attract. God wants us to obey his ways because obedience is better than sacrifice. Always remember to forgive even when you don’t want to. You should always love your neighbor just as Christ also loves you.
